1st Gen Tacoma (1995-2004) Complete Maintenance Schedule
Maintenance Guide
1st Gen Tacoma Maintenance Schedule
The original Toyota Tacoma came with the 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) or the 2.7L (3RZ-FE) and 2.4L (2RZ-FE) four-cylinder options. These engines are legendary for their durability when maintained properly.
Standard Intervals (3.4L V6)
| Interval | Service |
|---|---|
| Every 3,000-5,000 mi | Oil & filter change (5W-30) |
| Every 15,000 mi | Air filter, inspect brakes, check fluid levels |
| Every 30,000 mi | Coolant flush, spark plugs (if non-platinum), valve adjustment check |
| Every 60,000 mi | Timing belt replacement (critical!), water pump, serpentine belt, drive belt tensioner |
| Every 90,000-100,000 mi | Second timing belt, differential fluids, transmission fluid |
Critical: The 3.4L V6 uses a timing belt, not a chain. If the belt breaks, the engine will suffer severe internal damage. Always replace on schedule.
