3rd Gen Tacoma Oil Change Guide (3.5L V6)

Oil Change: 3rd Gen Tacoma V6

The 3.5L V6 in the 3rd gen Tacoma uses 0W-20 synthetic oil with a capacity of approximately 6.2 quarts.

Supplies

• 6.2 quarts 0W-20 full synthetic
• Oil filter (Toyota 04152-YZZA1)
• 14mm socket for drain plug
• Oil catch pan and shop towels

Procedure

1. Warm engine briefly, then shut off
2. Access from under the truck (skid plate removal may be necessary on TRD models)
3. Remove the drain plug and drain oil completely
4. Replace drain plug with new crush washer, torque to 30 ft-lbs
5. Remove the top-mount oil filter housing cap
6. Replace the filter element and O-ring
7. Refill with 6.2 quarts of 0W-20
8. Start engine, check for leaks, verify oil level
