Had to get pulled out by a Jeep this weekend and my ego is still recovering. Here's what happened and what I learned:

  • Tried to cross a wash that was deeper than it looked
  • Got high-centered on a hidden rock
  • My recovery strap was buried under all my camping gear (rookie move)
  • It took 45 minutes to dig out enough to hook up

Lessons: Always have your recovery gear accessible. I'm adding a proper front recovery point and keeping a snatch strap in the cab from now on.

We've all been there. No shame in getting pulled out — that's what the community is for. A Warn winch would solve a lot of these situations if you can swing the cost.

I keep a recovery bag right behind the driver's seat. Snatch strap, soft shackles, tree saver, gloves, and a folding shovel. All accessible in 30 seconds. Game changer.
