I need help finding replacement glass for the back window of my Innovation brand shell on my 2011 Tacoma.
Innovation has been out of business for several years as of 2026, but I had an Innovation brand tonneau cover on my 2002 Tacoma and I had to actually take it to their facility a couple hours north of San Diego for a fiberglass repair in about 2004. In 2017 I switched out the tonneau cover for a camper shell of a brand I can't remember when I used that truck to take my son on a hunting trip several times.
In 2020, I traded up my 2002 that had many issues from multiple collisions (mostly being rear-ended!) on San Diego freeways, to a 2011 that I needed for towing a 14' trailer to Kansas. The 2011 was in much better shape without the issues the 2002 had, has more room/more power and as I found out it gets 22 MPG at 80 MPH vs. the best of 17 MPG that I ever got with the 2002. I found a used Innovation brand camper shell for it, and it has been great. Last summer I broke out the rear window. Now I'm having a helluva time finding a replacement window.
The auto glass company says they can't cut one because it's tempered glass.
Is that news to anyone? It's news to me that they can MAKE a flat window of a given size. It doesn't have any convex curve to it (like Leer), and it doesn't have any holes in it for bolts (like Leer and like some SUV back windows).
I would have thought these windows are pretty much standard pre-made units the topper mfrs buy from window mfrs and install. There are no markings or stickers on this window so I can't tell who made it and contact them to see if I can order glass (how would they ship it anyway?)
