I've now run all three popular 285/70/17 tires on my Tacoma and wanted to share a real-world comparison:

BFGoodrich KO2: Best all-around. Quiet on highway, good in mud, excellent in snow. Wore evenly to 40k miles. This is the safe choice.

Goodyear Duratrac: Most aggressive tread of the three. Louder on pavement but incredible in mud and snow. The 3-peak mountain snowflake rating is legit. Wore faster (35k).

Falken Wildpeak AT3W: Best value. 90% of the KO2's capability at 70% of the price. Slightly noisier. I'd buy these again for a daily driver.

Great comparison. I'll throw Toyo Open Country AT3 into the mix — I'm at 25k miles and they're wearing better than my old KO2s did. Quieter too.

Running Duratracs now at 30k and they still have life. I rotate every 5k miles and that makes a huge difference in wear. Don't skip rotations.
