Hey everyone! My 2018 TRD Off-Road just hit 60,000 miles and I'm trying to figure out what maintenance I should prioritize beyond the basics. I've been pretty good about oil changes every 5k miles with Mobil 1, but I'm wondering about some of the other fluids and services.

Here's what I'm thinking needs attention:

  • Transmission fluid (never been changed)
  • Transfer case fluid
  • Rear differential service
  • Brake fluid flush
  • Coolant system flush

The truck has been mostly highway driven but I do take it on some light trails in the Great Smoky Mountains a few times a year. Should I be looking at any additional services given the off-road use? Any recommendations on fluid brands or things I might be missing?

Definitely get that transmission fluid changed if you haven't done it yet! I did mine at 60k on my 2017 and the old fluid was pretty dark. Toyota WS fluid is what you want - don't let anyone talk you into universal ATF.

For the diffs and transfer case, I've had good luck with Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90. The rear diff service is pretty straightforward if you're handy with tools, but the front diff can be a bit messy.

Since you're doing some off-roading, I'd add spark plugs to that list if they haven't been done recently. The factory NGK plugs usually go 100k but dusty trail conditions can affect them sooner.

Also consider having the air filter and cabin filter inspected - trail dust gets everywhere! I replace my K&N drop-in filter more frequently during heavy off-road seasons.

Good timing on this post! I just did the 60k service on my 2019 a few months ago. One thing that surprised me was how much metal debris was on the differential drain plug magnets - totally normal but eye-opening.

Pro tip: when you do the coolant flush, make sure they get all the air bubbles out of the system. These V6 engines can be finicky about that. I always bring it back to temperature and check the levels again after a few days of driving.
